Bridport & Lyme Regis News reported on Green Councillor Belinda Bawden's question to the full Dorset Council meeting on 10th April: "[...] Could we please design a process whereby Dorset Council promptly develops project proposals for the requested repairs, maintenance and improvements in our wards, with suggested requests for co-funding if appropriate, so that town and parish councils can decide whether they are prepared to contribute financially to get things done?"

Green Bridport Town Councillor Kelvin Clayton told Bridport & Lyme Regis News he welcomed Dorset Council's decision to refuse planning permission for 70 new retirement homes in Bridport with no affordable housing element - but that he "very much hopes" a new developer will take on the site to provide much needed affordable housing.

Councillor Claudia Webb met local residents today who live by the old Wyke Methodist Church to discuss the planning application that has been made to turn it into flats. Residents are concerned about the proposal adding to an already limited parking situation, it not being a design that would fit into the local landscape and the lack of forethought about how the building work would be undertaken.

Councillors including Greens Clare Sutton and Claudia Webb have co-signed a letter by South Dorset MP Lloyd Hatton to the CEO of Portland Port, calling for the controversial incinerator at the port site to be abandoned. The letter asks the Port to abandon "these harmful proposals" for "an outdated form of technology". They call for a "nationwide moratorium", banning any new waste incinerators. They also ask for a meeting about the issue with Port officials. The letter continues: “It has become clear that there is no business case, no community case, and no environmental case for a waste incinerator on Portland."

Green Councillors Clare Sutton (Rodwell & Wyke) and Jon Orrell (Melcombe Regis, and Mayor of Weymouth) were among the speakers at a Stop Portland Waste Incinerator protest in Weymouth on Saturday 16 November, attended by hundreds of concerned local citizens. The protest against the new Labour Government's decision to green-light the scheme was the lead item on Saturday night's BBC Spotlight.
