“No evidence” of Dorset Council’s permeable surfaces policy being put into effect, says Cllr Belinda Bawden as tarmac car park extension agreed

The Dorset Echo covered an intervention by Green Councillor Belinda Bawden (Lyme & Charmouth, Dorset Council) in support of a Labour councillor’s complaint that an approved car park extension to a Dorset Council-owned site in Chickerell is set to be tarmac, rather than a semi-permeable surface:

“Cllr Bawden said it was now council policy to encourage permeable or semi-permeable surfaces to help deal with flooding, and could not understand why the policy, agreed last summer, was being ignored.

“As yet I’ve seen no evidence of this being put into policy and yet it was agreed by 66 votes in the Council,” she said… ‘This is council land and you can do permeable surfaces for car parks.'”
