Helen Toft wins town council by-election in Wyke Regis in Weymouth

Helen Toft has become the Green Party's third town councillor in Weymouth after winning a by-election in the Wyke Regis ward beating both Labour and the Tories.

464 Helen Toft (Green Party) (43%)

381 Conservative (35%)

232 Labour (22%)

Helen joins fellow Greens Jon Orrell and Graham Lambert on the council.

Helen in bright sunshine at the 2012 OlympicsHelen said "It was my first political outing that started at the beginning of June. I am very pleased to say that I won by a healthy margin assisted by a great team of local Green Party members. Change is in the air."

Green Dorset Councillor Clare Sutton said,  "I first met Helen when we were both governors of Holy Trinity School where she set up a Walking Bus scheme to help working parents and campaigned (successfully!) to save Lollipop Ladies (and Gents) amongst many other things. She will be a wonderful councillor"
