2015 General and Local Election Results

Peter Barton, West Dorset, gained 5.7% of the votes. Jane Burnet, South Dorset, gained 4.7%. This was a great achievement given the first-past-the-post voting system and tactical voting.
We have quadrupled our local vote share, in line with our rise in membership, which is still surging locally and nationally with over 3000 people joining since the election.
The Green Party was the only left-wing party that increased its vote share - pretty amazing in a constituency which otherwise saw a massive swing to the right. In the South West, 167,960 Green votes were cast, a 6.1% share of the total votes, and 29 deposits were saved.
We elected two councillors onto Bridport Town Council, Julian Jones and Kelvin Clayton. Sue Greene was also re-elected to Sherborne town council, and Anne Clements was elected onto Maiden Newton parish council.
In many wards, we are now second place, and in some wards it looks hopeful for the next elections.
