GREEN PARTY CANDIDATE FOR BRIDPORT - KELVIN CLAYTON

Kelvin Clayton is a Green Party candidate for Bridport in the Dorset Council local elections on May 2nd

Kelvin Clayton, Julian Jones and Bob Hamblett will be the Green Party candidates for Bridport in the Dorset Council local elections on May 2nd 2024.

Kelvin has been a councillor on Bridport Town Council since 2015, and on Dorset Council since 2019.

“Whilst only one in a group of five Green Party councillors on Dorset Council’, he says, “it’s generally regarded that we punch well above our weight!”

He was the Green Party parliamentary candidate for West Dorset in both the 2017 and 2019 general elections, and will be again in the election expected later this year.

He writes a monthly politics column for the West Dorset Magazine. Before entering politics he served as a firefighter for 17 years, and then retrained to become a careers adviser.

Until very recently he was chair of the Bridport Youth and Community Centre, which he has helped save from closure following Dorset County Council’s withdrawal of funding.

“But perhaps most importantly”, he says, “I love Bridport. Of all the places that I’ve lived I’ve never felt a stronger sense of community or felt more at home!”
